At CALCO, we develop urban strategies and projects for public administrations, companies and investors. We start from an understanding of the territory as a cultural landscape in which natural ecosystems and human action are closely linked.
We focus on driving cities towards a more resilient future in the face of climate change challenges, offering services in three stages:
Diagnosis:
Based on a transversal analysis of the territory (hydrological, geological, historical, regulatory, urban structure, mobility, social connectivity) we detect the main threats, opportunities and vulnerabilities in order to identify the preferred areas of intervention.
Strategy:
We detail the necessary actions for urban renaturalization, environmental recovery, activation of the use of public space; both at the neighborhood scale and at the regional level. We elaborate guidelines and action plans with the necessary tools for their proper management.
Projects:
We draft executive projects of public space, from conceptual design to construction management.

STRATEGY FOR ENVIRONMENTAL RECOVERY AND REVITALIZATION OF THE ENVIRONMENT OF THE RIVER ÁGUEDA IN CIUDAD RODRIGO
This comprehensive strategy addresses environmental recovery actions, increased public use and outreach. It proposes the recovery of flooded areas, the elimination of dumping points, afforestation with native plant species, elimination of motes, and the integration of environmental recovery and protection criteria into current management regulations. On the other hand, the promotion of public use of the riverbank includes the creation of a circular pedestrian route and the enhancement of the great diversity of the landscape, from the riverside forest to the irrigated crop fields and pasturelands; as well as the connection of the four surrounding colonization settlements. All this is completed with a communication and participation plan focused on strengthening local identity and raising awareness of the importance of natural resources and their protection.
URBAN REGENERATION OF CHILPANCINGO
The Chilpancingo fairgrounds in Mexico is a space of more than 50,000 m2 that is currently isolated from the rest of the urban fabric and is used on a very ad hoc basis. The intervention proposes to convert it into a large public space, accessible throughout the year, with a varied program to increase its activity: a jogging track, a botanical garden, indoor and outdoor auditoriums, sports areas, skatepark, market stalls, food and beverage outlets as well as several public plazas. The project incorporates a large-scale stormwater management system, with infiltration areas, gravel pits, green basins, as well as a palette of native trees and shrubs to complement the existing species.
