DIDHEYA is a Basque company specialising in the design and manufacture of stainless steel solutions, with over 30 years’ experience.
It currently operates in three areas: decorative fittings, handrails for public transport and, more recently, street furniture.
The new range of street furniture stems from the combination of two areas of expertise developed by the company throughout its history: the technical and industrial experience gained whilst working for train and bus manufacturers, and the design sensibility developed through its work in the field of decorative fittings.
Under the creative direction of the Basque-French designer Jean Louis Iratzoki, the DIDHEYA team has developed five collections of stainless steel benches and armchairs designed to transform the way we understand street furniture.
The company’s ambition has been to break away from the notion that street furniture should be limited to fulfilling a function. We believe that the elements we install in streets, squares and communal spaces can also contribute to identity, beauty and character, becoming part of the city’s architectural language.

CORONA DE ARAGÓN SQUARE, SALOU
The refurbishment of Corona de Aragón Square, in the heart of Salou, incorporated a new street furniture solution by DIDHEYA, designed to reinforce the identity of the space and its relationship with its surroundings.
The project comprises four bench modules from the Luze collection. The pieces combine a concrete base with minimalist lines and a wide stainless steel backrest. The combination of these two materials creates a contrast between the robustness of the concrete and the visual lightness of the metal forms, resulting in a seating element with a distinct architectural character.
The project demonstrates how designer street furniture plays an active role in enhancing a public space. Beyond meeting a functional need, the pieces introduce new lines, textures and proportions that help to define the square’s character and enrich the experience of the urban space.
